It is said that when the first mortal being looked up at the sky and believed in a power greater than themselves, the first of the sylvan sprites was born. Though they cannot cast spells, they are themselves the incarnation of magic in its purest form, beings that thrive on belief, trust, faith, and innocent love. Exactly how they are born and where they come from is not entire known, as the numbers of the race dwindle as every generation grows more and more cynical and stops believing.

Tinker Bell, call such thanks to her mechanical gifts and the way the sylvan language sounds to mortal ears, was drawn to the innocence and adventurous spirit of Neverland very soon after her birth. She fell in love with the heart of Neverland, Peter Pan, and has been his constant companion ever since, though the deepest of her affections remain thoroughly unrequited.

Like most sylvan, Tink is around four inches tall with delicate gossamer wings on her back. In this form she can not only fly, but glows with the purest magical light, and when she speaks, even those that can understand the sylvan language perceive her voice as the tones of a bell--gentle wind chimes when she’s calm, an exuberant tinkling when’s happy, a grating staccato trill when she’s angry, and, very rarely, the ominous tone of a mournful church bell when she’s sad. Over time, Tinker Bell learned how to take a more ‘normal’ sized form of a slender, beautiful girl, barely five feet tall. In this form, her glow is dulled and difficult to perceive, and she can speak like a mortal--though she finds the language vulgar and inexpressive, and prefers not to.
